5 Cute Bedroom Ideas for Kids

Kids grow so fast – sometimes as a parent it’s hard to keep up with their ever changing likes and dislikes! What’s cool one day is totally over the next… Which can make coming up with a cute bedroom decor idea that both you and your child are happy with for a few years really challenging! Here are five cute kids bedroom decor ideas that I’ve put together to give you some inspiration:

1. Scandi Mountains

This theme is super of the moment – but also super-cute! You can create your mountains in a number of different ways, either by painting a feature wall or by wallpapering. If you paint the wall, you can go for any colours you like! You can also alter the look depending on the age of your child. Here are a few ideas:

This lovely grey-toned mural from The Sweetest Digs looks great and it was easy to create – find the simple tutorial on the website.

This simple blue and grey look from I Spy DIY also looks great and is also simple to create.

For a slightly more grown-up look, you could go for a more grown up style of mural like this one from ‘The Decorologist’. There is also a lovely tutorial for how to achieve the look on the website too:

Here are a couple of cute wallpaper choices:

Accessorising

There are lots of ways that you can further incorporate this theme through the decor in the room. For example over at Pages of Emma’s blog, she has done an amazing upcycle of a set of Ikea drawers for her son’s scandi-themed room:

Head over to Pages of Emma for all the details on this gorgeous makeover of the drawers and the rest of this super-cute room!

2. Jungle Theme

Another idea for a super-cute bedroom theme is ‘jungle’. There are some amazing wallpapers available to create this look on a feature wall:

You can team this look with some great accessories; think natural wood furnishings, natural wicker lampshades, animal print rugs and bold animal artwork:

One of my favourite bloggers, Melaniejadedesign.com recently did an amazing transformation on her son’s bedroom which shows how to really pull this theme together:

I love the way that Melanie has used the fantastic jungle wallpaper as a backdrop and teamed it with mustard tones from the wallpaper and lots of different natural textures.

3. Woodland Animals

Probably my absolutely favourite cute bedroom idea has to be woodland animals, in fact I had this in one of my son’s bedrooms when he was smaller! There are all kinds of ways in which you can use this theme.

This gorgeous nursery uses absolutely beautiful woodland wallpaper as a backdrop:

If you don’t fancy wallpaper there are lots of lovely wall decals you can use to liven up plain walls. You can simply remove them when your child has outgrown them:

To complete the look, go for simple furnishings, either white or natural woods, in keeping with the scandi feel. Soften it with a fluffy rug or throw and maybe some cute art work:

4. Butterflies and Insects

I love this idea as it can be super-soft and girly, or it can be quite subtle and grown-up, for example as in this bedroom designed by Nicole Hollis:

Or if this wallpaper is too much, then how about these gorgeous bee decals from Amy and May Designs on Etsy:

There are also some lovely accessories available to help pull this theme together:

5. Horses

For the little equestrian in your life (I’m talking proper horses – NOT unicorns!) how about taking it a bit farmhouse with some wood panelling and simple decor:

You could also add a gallery wall of all their favourite horse pictures / momentos:

And of course don’t forget to display those rosettes:

Alternatively you could take it a bit more cowboy with this glorious wallpaper:

Whew and that’s it! I hope you enjoyed my tour around some some cute bedroom ideas and it’s maybe given you a little bit of inspiration? I have other ideas specifically more for boys too. Enjoy!
